Pinehaven Tournament Information

It wouldn't be a Suave Sabbatical if there were just one tournament taking place throughout the week, so here's ALL the juice...

  • The 2-Man - Two-person teams competing against the rest of the field over Monday and Tuesday's rounds.
  • The Pinecone Cup - A 12 v. 12 Ryder Cup-esque competition pitting half the field against the other. A combination of four ball and singles matches contested over Monday and Tuesday's rounds.
  • Skins - Suave will host a skins game for all 4 rounds that is optional to join for all Pinehaven participants.

Optional Afternoon Golf

The Carolina sand hills have an abundance of top-flight, internationally renowned golf within a half hours drive. After each morning's round, guests have a plethora of options should they want to play more than 18 holes per day.

Pinehurst Resort - There are 7 more golf courses at Pinehurst Resort that aren't part of Pinehaven. You are welcome and encouraged to sample any of these in the afternoon. We recommend getting at least one round in at #3, which feels like a smaller version of #2 and #4. Greens fees start at $50 for afternoon replays.

Pine Needles, Mid Pines & Southern Pines - each one incredible and unique in their own way. All three designed by Donald Ross, and all restored by Kyle Franz.

Tobacco Road - one of the most fun and unique golf courses in the United States, and just a 20 minute drive from Pine Needles and 30 minutes from Pinehurst.

The Golf

Pinehurst #4 - A great test with bold greens and vast expanses of sand exposed along the fringes of the course and cross-bunkers. Dramatic vistas and elevation changes help explain why this course was chosen to host the 2019 U.S. Amateur just one year after it reopened in 2018 following Hanse’s redesign.

Pinehurst #8 - Opened in 1996 to celebrate Pinehurst’s first 100 years, earning it the nickname “The Centennial Course.” No. 8 features dramatic contours, elevation changes and movements in the fairways with beautiful views of wetlands and longleaf pines. Before No. 10 opened, it was universally lauded as the best non-Donald Ross course at Pinehurst resort.

Pinehurst #2 Donald Ross' masterpiece and one of the crown jewels of American golf. The centerpiece of Pinehaven 2025 is one of the best golf courses in the world and has hosted some of the most memorable U.S. Opens of the past 25 years.

  • Architect: Donald Ross (1907), restored by Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw (2007)
  • Rankings: #13 USA Overall, US Public #2, #1 in NC
  • Tournament History: U.S. Open (1999, 2005, 2014, 2024), U.S. Women's Open (2024), U.S. Amateur (1962, 2008), U.S. Senior Open (1994), U.S. Women's Amateur (1989), TOUR Championship (1991, 1992)
  • Content: Fried Egg | Every Hole Flyover | 2024 US Open Final Round

Pinehurst #10 - Give a talented architect a sandy, rolling piece of land and place few restrictions on him or her, and it’s amazing what can be produced. Donald Ross did so with a flourish in this region, and this time, it was Tom Doak’s turn.
